世界主要空軍-美國空軍(World Major Air Force-USAF)-2012

美國空軍主要由空軍部(Department of Air Force)的正規部隊以及預備隊外加國民兵(Air National Guard)所組成的空軍部隊，由空軍部統管所有美國空軍武力，為目前世界規模最大武器也是最為先進的空軍部隊並且也是可以快速部屬於全球的空軍武力。空軍部包含秘書處(The Secretariat)、參謀部(Air Staff)以及十個主要司令部(Major Command)。

一級司令部(武力結構)(Major Commands (Force Structure))

美國空軍的一級司令部在本土按職能劃分，在海外則按照區域劃分，可再分為作戰指揮部與後勤支援指揮部兩類，直接受空軍參謀部指揮。作戰指揮部包含(全部或部分)戰略、戰術、太空、特種與防禦部隊，或支援這些項目的空中武力。後勤支援的各指揮部則提供補給，武器系統，補給系統，運營維持，作戰物資，維護，運輸，教育和訓練或特殊任務與其他支援的組織。司令部下轄航空軍(Numbered Air Force (NAF))、聯隊(Wing)、大隊(Group)、中隊(Squadron)與小隊(Flight)。

美國原本計畫訂購750架第五代空優戰鬥機F-22A，但後來因為造價過高最後包含實驗機在內總共僅造了195架，不足的數量則打算以較輕型F-35A多功能戰鬥機取代，不過目前F-22A仍是世界最先進的第五代戰鬥機即使後來俄羅斯與中國也開發出第五代戰鬥機但在科技等級上仍是無法與F-22A相比，且由於技術太先進與保護匿蹤科技等關鍵技術外流以至於美國也禁止本型戰機出口，不過怪的是F-35由於開發時用了不少並不是很成熟的新技術造成開發時間大幅度延長，也就是邊開發再邊解決新技術所帶來的問題，目前三種F-35中造價最便宜的F-35A的造價已經攀升到比F-22A還高了，未來造價還有可能攀升。這跟美國當初開發第四代戰鬥機時空軍版F-15/F-16與海軍版的F-14/F-18高低配有很明顯得不同，F-15造價約為F-16的兩倍而F-14則為F-18的兩倍有找，不過台灣跟美國買的F-16單價可能比美國自己買F-15還貴且目前的F-16升級案也不便宜。這說明了一件事開發全新的科技產品不管是軍事、航空或者電子產品的研發成本與造價只有可能增高並不會減少。美國在大量採用無人飛行載具後，其單價也不便宜，全球之鷹一架也要上億美金，因此目前全世界也只有美國才能負擔得起如此龐大又造價高昂的作戰武器，不過由於這些遙控載具並不需要真人上戰場，就算被擊落也不會造成美國人員傷亡，目前大量採用無人載具上戰場的趨勢越來越高。由於阿富汗戰爭期間美國海軍陸戰隊的AV-8B基地遭到塔利班突擊擊毀6架AV-8B並有2架嚴重受損，讓陸戰隊的戰機數量不足，因此美國海軍陸戰隊的F-35B才成為第一個成軍的F-35，並在2012年正式成軍服役一個中隊。
