這是1980年至2012年的美國賣座冠軍電影與年度總票房收入表，其中以科幻、動畫與奇幻電影居多佔了四分之三左右。以星際大戰系列佔了四部居冠，而蝙蝠俠、玩具總動員、哈利波特與蜘蛛人系列各有兩部曾在王座上，極大多數都是知名系列電影，超過四分之一是僅有單部就沒有續集的電影。而僅有單部的電影有ET外星人、捍衛戰士、雨人、阿拉丁、阿甘正傳、ID4星際終結者與搶救雷恩大兵等。
