世界兩棲船塢運輸艦與戰鬥部隊及裝備配置(World Amphibious Transport Dock)-2014

兩棲船塢運輸艦(Amphibious Transport Dock)或稱船塢登陸平台艦(Landing Platform/Dock)(LPD)是指可搭載兩棲登陸艇、水陸兩棲戰車和氣墊艇的軍艦，目前也多搭配直升機甲板以提供登陸作戰的空中支援。船塢登陸陸艦船艙呈半吃水狀態以方便兩棲登陸艇 、水陸兩棲戰車和氣墊艇的進出，就像造船用的船塢一樣。
船塢登陸艦作戰方式主要是把參與登陸戰的兩棲登陸艇、水陸兩棲戰車和氣墊艇送至距離海岸線最佳的進攻位置。和兩棲突擊艦最大的不同在於船塢登陸艦雖然也可搭配直升機但較注重海陸兩棲的作戰部隊的運送與作戰能力，並可作為海上兩棲攻擊的臨時基地，為灘頭部隊補充彈藥和油料等等。
目前世界主要海軍國多有此種軍艦服役，俄羅斯是個例外，俄羅斯一開始並不重視大型兩棲軍艦的發展，因為在前蘇聯時代傳統的兩棲作戰大都是所謂的戰術性登陸，也就是兩棲作戰只當成陸戰的一部份，先將陸軍部隊從海上迂迴到敵人後方，預先清除兩棲作戰陸上主力前進的障礙，兩棲部隊是海軍與陸軍臨時編組也需其他軍種支援，與英美戰略登陸所需的獨立完整作戰有很大的區別。因此俄羅斯遠洋兩棲戰力不要說比不上美國也比不上英法兩國(不過俄羅斯目前已從法國購入西北風級兩棲突擊艦)，甚至中國都比俄羅斯重視大型兩棲軍艦的發展，而且目前中國的兩棲船塢運輸艦數量在建軍完成後將至少成為僅次於美國的國家。
